Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) organizes "YTB Turkish Awards" competitions in a bid to improve the mother language of Turkish citizens living abroad and urge new initiatives in the field of literature unique to Turkish Diaspora.

Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) organizes "YTB Turkish Awards" competitions in order to help Turkish citizens living abroad express themselves better in Turkish language and to encourage new initiatives in the field of literature of Turkish Diaspora.  In addition to the programs to be announced in different fields, raising awareness on the correct, proper and widespread use of the Turkish language is the objective of this project.

YTB Turkish Awards competition will be organized under 4 categories including story, poem, essay, and book support while a separate jury will be formed for each category. The correct and effective use of Turkish, language and spelling rules, uniqueness and literary style will be among the criteria considered by the jury. Another important consideration for pieces submitted to the competition will be their role in increasing the literature production of Turkish Diaspora and in introducing new initiatives for this genre. Respectively, 20 thousand TL, 15 thousand TL and 10 thousand TL will be awarded to the winners in the first, second and third place.  Additionally, a selected piece will receive 10 thousand TL for a special jury award.  In the book support category, up to 30 thousand TL will be provided to the top 5 authors as support for copywriting rights and publishing of the book.

Meanwhile, YTB Turkish literature book set will be presented to the top 10 contestants in all categories along with the opportunity to participate in the YTB literature academy program free of charge.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION IS 14 MAY 2019

Applications will be accepted online between 28 February 2019 and 14 May 2019. Following the evaluation of the jury, the results will be announced on 5 July 2019.

Turkish citizens who wish to participate in the competition need to send their pieces and the required documents announced by YTB via electronic mail ([email protected]) within the application period. Application form and list of conditions for the competition can be downloaded from www.ytb.gov.tr. The pieces that are not sent during the given application period will not be accepted for the competition.
