“ALUMNI TURKEY” EVENT HELD IN SKOPJE
The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) held the “Alumni Turkey” event in Skopje, capital of the Republic of Macedonia. Macedonian graduates who got undergraduate and post-graduate degrees from various universities in Turkey and then returned to their home country attended the event. Macedonian Culture Minister Asaf Ademi, State Minister Elvin Hasan with the Turkish origin, Macedonian Minister for Diaspora Affairs Edmond Ademi, Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) President Abdullah Eren, Turkish Ambassador to Macedonia Tülin Erkal Kara, Turkish political party leaders, deputies and representatives of Turkish institutions and organizations, as well as graduates of Turkish universities also attended the event.
Speaking at the event, President Eren said that the Macedonian scholarship students from Turkish universities currently held the highest-level positions in Macedonia’s politics, bureaucracy and civil society, which was a source of pride to them. “We are now talking about over one thousand graduates, who came from Macedonia to our country, where they studied and graduated,” Eren said.
Furthermore, Ambassador Kara stressed that the graduates of Turkish universities played an important role in terms of strengthening the old friendship between the two countries.
State Minister Hasan said that Turkey was great country, which has always supported Macedonia since its independence, stood by its side in the hardest times and assumed responsibility to establish good relations with Macedonia.
After the event, President Eren met with cabinet ministers, Turkish political party leaders and NGO leaders, as part of his contacts in Macedonia.
