Under the cooperation of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, thousands of young people living abroad are brought together every year in camp programs in Turkey in order to help them get to know our national, moral, cultural values and historical roots. The camps organized in various cities include sporting activities, seminars and sightseeing programs. Thanks to the programs, young people improve their communication mutually and also enhance their personal development.
The “Turks Abroad Youth Camp” organized by YTB in Çanakkale this year has a special meaning. Thousands of Muslims from the Sandzak region, which is now divided within borders of Serbia and Montenegro, volunteered to fight for the Ottoman Empire in 1915 and were martyred in Çanakkale. This year, YTB included young people from the Sandzak Region in the camps for the first time. At a visit to Çanakkale Martyrs' Cemetery organized as part of the camp program, the grandchildren of Sandzak Bosniaks and the young people living abroad commemorated their grandparents together by the graveside.
