Online Application Possible for Diploma Equivalence Certificates
Council of Higher Education (YÖK) enabled online applications for diploma equivalence certificates. On July 30, 2019, “Regulation on Amendment on the Regulation on Recognition and Equivalence of Foreign Higher Education Diplomas” was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.
According to the new regulation, equivalency applications for higher education diplomas received abroad can be made through “e-Government Gate” or YÖK’s webpage. Turkish citizens can make their applications through e-Government Gate, whereas the foreigners may use the webpage of YÖK.
With the Online Application System, the equivalency application process for the diplomas received abroad will be facilitated and the processing will be fast.
The new regulation also allows for the notices to be made to the applicants by YÖK via mail or other electronic means.
Following the upload of all the necessary documents to the system, the applicants will be scheduled an appointment within 15 business days to submit the originals of the document to YÖK and the equivalency process will begin after thorough checking of the documents by the YÖK officials. The officials of YÖK will check the originals of the documents uploaded to the system during the pre-application for equivalency, and stamp them “Approved” to finish the application. The original documents will no more remain at YÖK, and they will be returned to the applicant or to his or her proxy with the official power of attorney.
