"Turkey Talks" hosted AK Party Deputy Chairman and Istanbul Deputy Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş
AK Party Deputy Chairman and Istanbul Deputy Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş participated in "Turkey Talks" organized by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) within the scope of "International Students Academy Project". The event took place in Kocaeli University Prof. Dr. Baki Komsuoğlu Culture and Congress Center.
Kurtulmuş voiced his happiness to be with students coming from various parts of the world.
TURKEY HAS RETURNED TO ITS ROOTS
Noting that social events have both spatial and temporal dimensions, Kurtulmuş underscored that organizing this event today rather than the 1990s is related to the temporal dimension.
Highlighting that Turkey was reborn from its ashes within this period, Kurtulmuş said: "Turkey has returned to its roots, turned its face to the dream of becoming a great and strong country. It has come a long way in this political pursuit under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Turkey remains same Turkey, but if you had come to Turkey during the 80s and 90s, you would not probably be welcomed with such hospitability or Turkey will not be embracing youth coming from Africa, Asia, Europe, Balkans and Caucasus due to its lack of vision.
WE COVER VAST GEOGRAPHICAL AREA
Touching on the importance of the national presence, Kurtuluş added:
"We, as the governor of Turkey, do not regard the national presence as only composing of 82 million people. Our national presence is rooted in a vast geographical area ranging from Stari Most, Orkhon inscriptions to the Mosque of Córdoba. Our national presence consists of our friends, our communities from the same kin and religion, our brothers and sisters living in a vast geographical area ranging from Albania to South Africa, from Kazan to Senegal, and from Algeria to Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan. When we consider a national presence, it covers this vast geographical area. Imagining this vast geographical area, we consider all of our brother and sisters living there a part of our nation and our presence."
Noting that he closely knows YTB, Kurtulmuş underlined that the participants in this event are the proof of this huge national presence in flesh and bones. Stressing that the students have been focusing on improving themselves to reach the ideal of creating this civilization despite coming from different parts of the world, Kurtuluş called for establishing the new just world.
Pointing out that those belonging to great civilizations with great ideals should build a better bridge between past and today, Kurtulmuş gave the example of people of Caliphate of Córdoba.
Emphasizing that Caliphate of Córdoba is the most concrete example of the hatred of the West world against Islam, Kurtulmuş said: “They destroyed libraries of Caliphate of Córdoba. Rivers were filled with bright red blood. Today, bells are ringing in the Mosque of Córdoba in which sounds of Adhan were heard for seven centuries. 1992 was a revenge move of the Crusade mindset of the West against 1953."
"WE ALWAYS SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS”
Speaking in the program, President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) Abdullah Eren indicated that one of the important areas of responsibilities of YTB is international students. He added: "We have been responsible for the Türkiye Scholarships Program provided to international students since 2011. Currently, there are 150 thousand international students in Turkey with 17 thousand of them being scholarship holders.”
YTB President Eren stated that International Students Academy contributes to the academic, social and cultural improvement of students, adding that the program is also attended by prominent names to enable international students in Turkey to get to know Anatolian culture closely. "We always support our students whether they receive a scholarship or not. We are always ready to pay attention to the difficulties they face. Your families have entrusted us to look after you. I will only ask you to study and keep your grades high. When you graduate, contribute to your countries, to the bilateral relations between our countries, and of course to the pursuit of creating a more prosperous future that is more livable than the rest of the world.”
