President of the Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) Abdullah Eren visited and inspected Kapıkule Border Crossing that is very active with the coming of the citizens living abroad to spend their leave and vacation period in Turkey. In the visit which was attended by the Governor of Edirne, Ekrem Canalp, the President of YTB Eren drew attention to the projects they produce to meet the basic needs of the citizens during the customs entries and waits, also took close interest in the citizens entering the country and talked with them.

President Eren making statements at the YTB information stand installed at the Border Crossing, observed that the citizens abroad came back to homeland with excitement. Eren stated that Turks abroad crossed more than 2 thousand kilometers on highways.

ATTEMPT TO MINIMIZE THE QUEUES

Stating that they have begun works towards ensuring the meets of the citizens at Kapıkule and other border crossings as well as ensuring fast entries, YTB President Eren said: “There are now attempts towards reducing the wait time of our citizens, who come to fulfill their longing towards their home country, at border crossings to a minimum. There are mechanisms produced to meet their basic demands during wait time. As YTB we are here to greet and welcome our citizens who came from abroad. Our citizens are happy with the services provided. We would like to express our gratitude to our Ministry of Interior. There are Turkish police waiting at the Serbian border to Hungary, Croatia and Bulgaria. With the crescent and star on their chest and their Turkish uniforms, accompanied by the YTB personnel that speak Serbian language, they serve our citizens at the Serbian border. Therefore, our services to our citizens that come through the land route are increasing.”

TURKISH POLICE AT SERBIAN BORDER

For the first time this year, under the cooperation of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and Ministry of Interior, citizens arriving to Turkey are greeted outside the borders of Turkey, at the Serbian border crossings by the Turkish Police, YTB personnel and international students of YTB that know Turkish and Serbian. Thus, at the Serbian borders, one of the most problematic transit routes, all needs of our citizens, foremost being translation, are met.

Vehicles readied at the Serbian border crossings and the Communication Point and Call Center established by YTB at Niš, a city on the transit route to Turkey, are kept available for the needs of our citizens. These days when the travel to the homeland intensifies, the activities and needs provision processes are increased to meet the demands.

WELCOME TO THE HOMELAND

The greeting activities that begin beyond the borders continue at Turkey’s border crossings, prominently in Kapıkule. YTB employ activities to meet the demands of our citizens at border crossings, distribute Turkish delight, along with pocketbook and brochures that contain all the information that our citizens might need and greet them saying “Welcome to the Homeland.”
