YTB President Eren is in Paris

Abdullah Eren, the President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) visited the Lale Education and Culture Center which provides Turkish students with cultural courses in Paris, France's capital.

Eren who was in Paris for several official visits paid a visit to the Lale Education and Culture Center which has provided nearly 400 Turkish students with cultural and preschool education in Paris and surrounding areas for 5 years. Eren signed the daybook of the center in his visit after dropping by classrooms and chatting with students. He also received information from the Center President Yasin Öktem and teachers about educational activities. Giving a short speech there, YTB president Abdullah Eren said, ''We need associations and NGOs in order to create a solid foundation to prepare youngsters for the future, and Lale Education and Culture Center is one of them.''

Eren stated that they will continue supporting Turkish associations abroad.

Öktem presented Eren with a plaque for his visit. Turkey's Paris Consul General Görkem Barış Tantekin and the education counsellor Prof. Murat Demirkan were also present during the visit which drew a great deal of attention from the students. YTB President Eren met İsmail Hakkı Musa, the Turkish Ambassador to France and the Paris Academic Council Vice President Stefano Bosi. Possibility of collaboration in terms of student mobility was addressed during meetings. Eren who will meet Turkish NGO directors tonight in the Consulate-General in Paris attended the 11th Human Rights Training Program event held by YTB in Strasbourg yesterday. In the scope of the 11th Human Rights Training Program that will continue until the 3rd of March in Strasbourg, specialists experienced in the national and international arena will give theoretical training in subjects such as discrimination, hate crimes, the nature of the European Court of Human Rights, and the application procedure. Also, visits to international organizations such as the European Court of Human Rights, European Parliament (EP), and European Council in Strasbourg will be carried out under the program. The training program will provide the participants coming from many countries with the opportunity to build networks. 56 university students from 10 countries participated in the program.
