Abdullah Eren, President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), met with students from the International Balkan University (IBU) as part of his visit to Macedonia. Turkish Ambassador to Macedonia Tülin Erkal Kara and Rector of International Balkan University Prof. Mehmet Dursun Erdem accompanied President Eren during the event. Students, who graduated within the scope of the Turkey Scholarship program, also took part in the event.

President Eren also met with students attending the IBU. Stating that the Balkan region is greatly important to Turkey, President Eren said, “We consider our Turkiye Scholar program as a great investment in terms of the future of Macedonia and Balkans.”  

Speaking at the event, YTB President stated that the Balkan region was of great importance to Turkey. Eren underlined that the scholarships provided by the YTB for IBU, which was established under the leadership and thanks to the encouragement of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan,  were among their important projects. “Republic of Turkey is and will be always with you under all circumstances and conditions. You already know this very well. We also know what Turkey means to you,” said Eren.

In his speech, Prof. Mehmet Dursun Erdem, Rector of IBU, said that he was honored to host the President of YTB, namely, one of the organizations giving support them so that their vision could be completed. Stating that the YTB makes great contributions to the IBU, Erdem said, “The contributions made by the YTB to our region and  university is huge.” Erdem ended his speech by expressing hope that the contributions made by the YTB will increasingly continue in the upcoming period.

After the event, they exchanged  gifts.
