Abdullah Eren, President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and his accompanying delegation paid visits to the zones of Operation Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch which are freed from the terrorism at the north of Syria. The delegation observed the educational efforts on site at Azez, Jarabulus, Bab and Çobanbey which are located in Syria, across Kilis. They visited local universities and came together with local people as well as orphans at the fast-breaking which was organized by YTB at the culture center established upon the will of Martyr Musa Özalkan who is the first martyr of Operation Afrin in Çobanbey.

WE WANTED TO GET TOGETHER WITH OUR FELLOW TURKMENS AND RELATED COMMUNITIES

Pointing out that YTB has conducted many activities to help Syrian youth with their academic improvement, as they had to quit their studies due to the war, President Eren stated that these young people will take up important roles in the reconstruction of Syria. Emphasizing that YTB bears great responsibility regarding higher education of Syrians especially in such times, President Eren added, “Our organization fulfills a responsibility concerning higher education of Syrians in Turkey. At this point, we provide Syrian students with Turkish language education and scholarships. We contribute to the education of Syrian students at camps and city centers. And we wanted to make observations for the possibility of higher education here in these lands that are now cleared off of terrorists and get together with our fellow Turkmens and related communities.”

Stating that universities should be strengthened along with the local structure in regions that have been wiped out of terrorists thanks to the Operations Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch, President Eren said, “We have paid visits to the region to recover morale, starting with our fellow Turkmens, who are the owners of this land, and then other Syrian friends and related communities and made efforts to improve partnerships. We also have made some research concerning the possibilities of our Syrian friends continuing their higher education in the region and serving their region upon graduation.”
